Hippogryphs are kind of relatives to the gryphons since during medieval times. They typically have the back end of a horse and the front end and wings of an eagle. This was because they were said to be the offspring of a gryphon and a mare in the old stories. Since gryphons tend to eat a great many things including horses a hippogryph is a really rare thing. Due to this rarity hippogryphs symbolize impossibility and love.
